Inclusive Practices/Differentiated Instruction: Creating Meaningful Learning Experiences in an Inclusive Practice Middle School and Secondary Classroom

Lori Mora
Assistant Principal, Deer Valley Middle School, Deer Valley Unified School District. Lori holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in K-12 special and general education from National Lewis University and a M.ED in Educational Administration and Supervision from Arizona State University. Lori has been in education for 21 years and has taught special education at multiple grade levels in inclusive practice settings as well as general education language arts and science. Lori has developed and led staff development workshops on a variety of topics including technology integration, backwards design and formative assessments, accommodations and modifications, differentiation and inclusive practices for the general education classroom and positive behavioral intervention strategies.

Positive Behavior Supports That Promote Cooperation and Learning: Behavior in the Hallways Matters as Much as Behavior in PK - 12 Classrooms
This workshop will examine universal behaviors that disrupt our classrooms and schools with a focus on establishing expectations, earning cooperation through dignity and respect, and establishing positive learning environments.
Katherine Wanslee
Katherine Wanslee holds a B.A. in Special Education and a Masters in Education Administration from Arizona State University. She has taught for 15 years in general education classrooms, resource settings, self-contained behavior classrooms, and is currently a Behavior Consultant in the public schools. Katherine facilitates staff development workshops for school districts and Headstart Programs that focus on classroom management for preschool through 12th grade. She has served as adjunct faculty for Northern Arizona University for eight years in the Early Childhood Education Department. |

Math with Meaning in the K-3 Classroom
In this workshop, participants will explore hands-on activities to enhance student understanding of mathematics. The activities address performance objectives in the Number Strand of the Arizona Math Standards. Problem solving and communication are also addressed in the workshop. |

Sue Larson
Mathematics and Education Consultant, Faculty Lecturer, College of Teacher Education and Leadership, Arizona State University at the West Campus. Susan has her Bachelors of Science degree in mathematics from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania and her Master of Science Degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis on middle school teaching from Fitchburg State College in Massachusetts. Sue has taught math and social studies at the elementary and secondary levels in grades 5 through 12 and has taught numerous undergraduate and graduate level courses at Fitchburg State College and Arizona State University at the West campus. In her work as a math and education consultant she has offered a number of professional workshops from designing and implementing math curriculum to discrete mathematics for school districts around Arizona.
